The flyer is designed to be two-sided and cut into thirds, using standard-sized 8.5" by 11" paper, preferably card stock.
FACTS:
- In 1986, the International World Court condemned the United States for conducting terrorism in Nicaragua. George Bush Sr. was Vice President at the time, who became President in 1988.
- The U.S. has bombed water filtration plants in Iraq, then sanctioned the necessary equipment and chemicals needed to provide clean water, causing 50,000 children to die every year from preventable disease. (Think “Biological Terrorism”)
- Our current annual military budget is $437 billion. If we cut this by $100 billion, then distribute this cut to each state according to population, Michigan would receive about $3.5 billion, and Kent County about $200 million. Can you think of what we could do to improve public services? This is your tax money!
Your astonishment is quite understandable, for in no major media forum will you hear a discussion of any of these facts when the motives of war are examined. War is terrorism!
Thirty-six years after Martin Luther King, Jr. called our country "the major purveyor of violence in the world today", the claim is truer than ever, as hypocritical USA leaders claim to be fighting a "war on terrorism".
Major media, unregulated capitalism, and our autocratic “bipartisan consensus” political system need serious, society-oriented overhauls. The way to bring these ideas into reality is by people like YOU who have a conscience, acting in different ways to usurp greed and hate.
Profit-driven legislation must be changed.
